Business Development Manager – U.S. Produce Division
Reports to: Sales Manager
About the RoleWe are an established North American produce importer and distributor expanding our footprint into the United States. We are seeking a dynamic and driven Business Development Manager to spearhead customer growth for our expanding U.S. operation. This is an exciting opportunity to build and shape sales strategy from the ground up within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
You will develop relationships with retail, wholesale, and food service customers, identify new business opportunities, and help position our imported fresh produce in key markets. This role blends analytical rigor with creative problem-solving and offers a clear path to future senior sales leadership opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Identify, target, and develop new business opportunities in key U.S. markets
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with customers and partners.
- Present product and category solutions with attention to merchandising, margin, and market trends.
- Market & Business Analysis
- Conduct market research and analyze customer needs, pricing, and competitor activity.
- Develop business cases and proposals grounded in data and consumer insight.
- Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with leadership to shape go-to-market strategies and customer growth plans.
- Treat the business as a startup within a larger organization—innovating, adapting, and improving processes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with import, logistics, and finance teams to ensure smooth execution from sourcing to delivery.
- Contribute insights to help refine product offerings and service models.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- 3–6 years of experience in FMCG or consumer goods, preferably in sales, marketing, or category management.
- Strong analytical and numerical ability; comfortable with data-driven decision making.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and results-driven.
- Experience in international or cross-border business an asset.
- Ability to travel to customer sites and trade events as needed.
- Highly analytical, motivated, and intellectually curious, with a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
