Job Description
Site Safety Coordinator – Construction
Pay Rate: $38-$40/hour
About the Role: We are seeking a proactive and experienced Site Safety Coordinator to join our construction team. This person will be responsible for implementing and maintaining safety protocols on active construction sites, conducting daily safety inspections, and ensuring full compliance with OSHA regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction safety and the ability to foster a culture of safety across all trades.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily safety inspections and job hazard analyses (JHA) on active construction sites.
- Lead daily toolbox talks and safety meetings with field crews.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and project-specific safety plans.
- Monitor PPE usage and enforce proper safety protocols at all times.
- Identify unsafe conditions and stop work when necessary to prevent incidents.
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and safety violations; prepare detailed reports and corrective action plans.
- Maintain safety documentation, inspection logs, and training records.
- Coordinate with project management, superintendents, and foremen on safety planning and implementation.
- Conduct new hire safety orientations and ongoing safety training.
- Monitor fall protection systems, scaffolding, ladders, and other elevated work equipment.
- Ensure proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures are followed for electrical and mechanical work.
- Assist with OSHA inspections and regulatory compliance audits.
- Track and report safety metrics, including incident rates and corrective actions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in construction safety or related role.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification required.
- OSHA 510 or OSHA 500 certification is a strong plus.
- Experience with construction site safety on electrical, mechanical, or industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA 1926 regulations and construction safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, safety plans, and project specifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to train and influence field teams.
- Proficiency in safety documentation and reporting; experience with Procore is a plus.
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work on active construction sites in various weather conditions.
- Ability to walk, climb, and inspect all areas of the job site.
- Must be able to wear required PPE for extended periods.
