Requirements

In order to be considered for an instructional position, you must possess NJ Certification. If you do not have certification, please refer to the NJ Department of Education website for details on obtaining the necessary certificate.

Alternate route candidates (Certificate of Eligibility) must show completion of 50 hours of pre‑service training through a DOE approved CE educator program prior to being interviewed for a position. The certificate of completion must be uploaded into the Appli Track portal to be considered. Applicants must become a NJ resident within one year of starting the position as per P.L. 2011, c. 70.

In accordance with S-414/A-3188, school districts, charter schools, nonpublic schools, and contracted service providers are required to review the last twenty years of employment history of prospective employees to ascertain allegations of child abuse or sexual misconduct.
