Mechanical Project Engineer I is a full-time position based in Vineland, New Jersey. Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, this position will work closely with the Applications Engineering, Project Management, Purchasing/Planning, Manufacturing and Service teams in execution of standard and custom projects within the North American water/wastewater markets. The Mechanical Project Engineer will work in an internally focused role to develop engineering and technical submittals, drawings as needed, project Bills of Material (“BOM”), and Operating and Maintenance (“O&M”) Manuals for assigned projects.
EssentialJob Functions
- Review customer specifications and drawings to confirm scope of project and proposal adherence to customer specifications;
- Work with Project Managers to resolve any discrepancies between proposal and customer specifications to confirm final scope of supply;
- Assist Project Managers in preparing technical submittal documents, project materials, and project plans;
- Generate P&IDs, 3D drawings as needed, cut sheets and other project documentation;
- Review drawings and BOMs from design team for accuracy;
- Correctly apply industry standards and codes to design;
- Review and select materials and equipment that comply with component specification documents and application requirements;
- Testing and troubleshooting of equipment;
- Prepare project O&M manuals, including detailed step-by-step operating instructions and troubleshooting guides;
- Communicate to senior management assessed risk and project status;
- Maintain positive relationships and ensure effective communications between customers and project team members are maintained;
- Maintain project related materials in the project library/storage system;
- Comply with Chemical Feed’s safety and personal protective equipment policies;
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat; and 2D and Solidworks 3D CAD software;
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, including mechanical, process, and electrical;
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
- Detailed-oriented, organized, self-starter, and able to handle tasks for multiple projects at the same time.
- Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel between facilities and, on occasion to customer sites required (up to 10% of the time to locations within the continental U.S. and Canada).
- Ability to sit for long periods of time;
- Physical ability to perform work in a standing, stooping, sitting, or bending position for extended periods of time;
- Regularly stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls;
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25lbs;
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus; and
- Ability to look at computer monitors for much of the workday.
