Production Manager, Operations Manager
Pelton Shepherd Industries is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead all manufacturing operations at our facility. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, this role is accountable for safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory, and employee engagement. This is a hands‑on leadership position for a results‑driven manager who can lead both strategically and tactically.
Position OverviewThe Production Manager serves as the site leader and is responsible for all facility operations. This role builds and maintains an engaged workforce, communicates clear expectations, and drives performance across key metrics including Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Inventory.
Key Responsibilities Safety- Ensure compliance with all Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) policies and regulations.
- Conduct safety audits, address unsafe behaviors, and coordinate required safety training.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement using the PSI Total Quality Management (TQM) system.
- Ensure SOPs are implemented, understood, and followed.
- Establish and enforce quality standards for existing and new products.
- Develop and execute manufacturing plans aligned with business objectives.
- Collaborate with Planning and Scheduling to create and execute production schedules.
- Monitor efficiency and drive improvement toward site targets (89% efficiency goal).
- Manage labor, materials, and expenses to meet production and budget goals.
- Implement Lean tools and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Understand equipment operation and assist with troubleshooting as needed.
- Build trust and engagement through communication, coaching, and accountability.
- Hire, train, develop, and manage performance of production staff.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and support ongoing training.
- Ensure proper maintenance, functionality, and continuous improvement of the facility and equipment.
- Degree in Business Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field OR 10+ years of equivalent production leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations and production equipment.
- Experience managing KPIs (Safety, Efficiency, Quality, Attendance, Shipping).
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Daily Management systems.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting understanding.
- Proven leadership, coaching, and performance management experience.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
- Self‑driven, accountable, and able to work under pressure with flexibility.
- Frequent standing and walking.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
