SP Industries Inc. is expanding our team in Vineland, NJ and has an immediate opening for a Machine Operator - Grinder.
In this role, the right candidate will prepare and process scientific glass components by routing materials, setting up and operating grinding equipment, and using precision instruments to ensure quality. This role requires reading technical drawings, maintaining steady production, assisting with part supplies, and keeping a clean, safe work area while following all environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Hours:
Monday – Thursday, 1st Shift – 4/10s schedule.
- Routing material to specific departments for manufacturing
- Set up and operate equipment used to cut, grind, and polish scientific glass
- Read and interpret drawings and specifications written in English
- Use a variety of measuring instruments to ensure parts meet quality levels
- Execute sustained production in the grinding department
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area
- Observe all precautions, rules, and regulations related to environmental, health, and safety matters (e.g., PPE, proper waste disposal)
- Assist in managing the supply of replacement parts
- Understand and follow Bills of Materials and process routers
- Assist on special projects as required
- 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred
- Prior experience with glass handling or machining a plus
- Ability to read blueprints
- Basic math and measuring skills
- Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
- Proficiency in English reading and communication
- Computer literacy; ability to use company-specific systems
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
- High School Diploma or GED required
Pay: $16–$21.50 per hour.
HSE- Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures
- Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guards unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout‑tagout methods
- Report any unsafe conditions or acts
- Report defects in any equipment or protective device
- Ensure required protective equipment is used for assigned tasks
- Attend all required health, safety and environmental training
- Report accidents/incidents to supervisor
- Assist in investigating accidents/incidents
- Refrain from engaging in prank, contest, or rough conduct
