Plant Housekeeper

The Plant Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment throughout the production areas. This position performs routine housekeeping duties, removes debris and waste, and helps ensure that production areas meet company standards for food safety, product quality, and workplace safety.

This position is part of the Sanitation Department and works under the direction of the Sanitation Supervisor assigned to the production line. The Plant Housekeeper's schedule will coincide with the operating schedule of the assigned production line.

Pay and Schedule
  • Pay Rate: $18.82 per hour
  • This position may be assigned to either a day shift or a night shift
  • Shift schedules may include:
    • Three 12-hour shifts per week, or
    • Four 10-hour shifts per week
  • The specific days, hours, and shift assignment will depend on the production line schedule and business needs
  • Candidates must be available to work the schedule required for their assigned production line
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily housekeeping and cleaning duties throughout the production areas
  • Continuously sweep flour, food particles, packaging materials, and other debris from around production equipment and plant floors
  • Collect and remove trash from production areas and place it in the appropriate outdoor waste containers
  • Wipe down machinery, equipment surfaces, floors, and other areas where flour dust or debris has accumulated
  • Regularly inspect production areas and take initiative to address cleaning needs
  • Help maintain clean and organized work areas to reduce the risk of slips, trips, falls, and other workplace hazards
  • Work closely with production employees to ensure floors and surrounding areas remain free of dust, debris, and obstructions
  • Assist with cleaning offices and common areas located within or near the production environment
  • Follow established cleaning procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, and food-safety requirements
  • Immediately report food-safety, quality, sanitation, or safety concerns to a supervisor or the Quality Assurance department
  • Properly use and maintain all required personal protective equipment
  • Follow all company safety, health, environmental, sanitation, and workplace policies
  • Complete other cleaning and housekeeping duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Previous housekeeping, janitorial, sanitation, or industrial cleaning experience is preferred
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing or food-production environment is helpful
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to follow supervisory direction and established cleaning procedures
  • Basic understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices is preferred
  • Strong attention to cleanliness, safety, and detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with production and sanitation team members
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative when cleaning needs are identified
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, push, or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks
  • Comfortable working near production equipment and machinery with moving parts
  • Ability to work safely in both warm and cold areas of the facility
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment and follow all plant safety procedures
  • Work may involve exposure to flour dust, food ingredients, cleaning materials, noise, and varying temperatures
