Job SummaryThe RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team who ensures that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high‑quality, safe patient care. The position operates within a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported through Wellstar Shared Governance, and guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence‑based practice, and research.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions- Perform the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) using evidence‑based practice and analytical/critical thinking to provide individualized care.
- Provide relationship‑based, patient‑centered care that adapts delivery to cultural diversity and population characteristics.
- Partner with patients and significant others through appropriate methods—bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient teaching—to focus care plans on patient goals.
- Practice using current clinical practice standards and promote a respectful, inclusive clinical environment by completing timely documentation and diverse interdisciplinary communication.
- Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration while being fiscally responsible to support recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
- Participate in and support performance improvement, research, and evidence‑based practice initiatives, including leading activities and participating in shared governance.
- Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population‑specific education.
- Serve as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses and staff or students across disciplines to develop a qualified workforce.
- Promote evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement; participate in value analysis and data collection to address clinical questions.
- Uphold all healthcare system policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, including legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
- Proactively plan patient care across the continuum and support efficient human and material resource use.
- Participate in developing protocols and procedures to achieve best‑practice outcomes, such as reducing readmission rates and adverse events.
Minimum Education
- Graduate of an accredited or approved school of nursing.
- Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) in nursing from an accredited school of nursing (Preferred).
- Registered Nurse (Single State)
- RN – Multi‑state Compact
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- BLS – Instructor
- BLS – Provisional
- Ability to read, write, and speak English; proficient with technology to support clinical care; basic computer skills.
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills.
- Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment and respond to emergencies with decisiveness, composure, and respect.
- Excellent time‑management skills.
- Evidence‑based practice and analytical/critical thinking skills for nursing.
