Equipment Operators

The Town of Vinton Public Works Department is seeking dependable, safety-focused Equipment Operators to support essential community operations and maintenance. This position plays a key role in keeping Vinton’s streets and public infrastructure functioning smoothly for our residents.

• Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, loaders, dump trucks, skid steers, and other machinery used in Public Works operations
• Perform street maintenance, utility work, snow removal, storm response, and other municipal service tasks
• Conduct daily equipment inspections and report necessary maintenance
• Follow all town, state, and federal safety policies and procedures
• Assist with manual labor and crew duties when equipment operation is not required
• Work collaboratively with Public Works teams to complete projects efficiently and safely

• Previous experience operating heavy equipment preferred
• Valid Virginia driver’s license; CDL Class B or ability to obtain required
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and teamwork
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
