Role Description

The Billing Clerk Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Virginia Beach, VA. This position is responsible for assisting in the preparation, review, and processing of client invoices in a timely and accurate manner, including verifying billing data, rates, and time entries. Day-to-day tasks include opening new client files, closing and archiving closed files, updating billing records, coordinating with attorneys and staff to resolve billing discrepancies, and responding to client inquiries regarding invoices and payments.

The Billing Clerk will also assist with payment processing. The role requires consistent attention to detail, adherence to established procedures, and effective communication with internal team members and clients.

Qualifications
  • Foundational knowledge of bookkeeping and/or invoicing.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and collaborate with attorneys, staff, and clients about billing matters.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple billing deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of billing or accounting software and standard office applications (e.g., MS Office).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information appropriately.
  • Previous billing or accounting experience in a legal or professional services setting is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
