Employment type: Independent Contractor (1099) 60 days to hire.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, generally between 8:30am and 5pm (flexibility based on workload and deadlines)
Job SummaryWe are looking to engage an experienced independent contractor to provideOffice Administration and Inside Sales Supportservices in a defense-contracting environment. This role is ideal for someone who works well independently, communicates clearly, and can manage tasks with minimal oversight.
This is a project-based, services-rendered engagement. The contractor will manage their own methods and workflow while delivering agreed-upon tasks and supporting our team as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Support inside sales activities for government and commercial customers
- Prepare and process quotes, sales orders, and acknowledgements
- Communicate with customers regarding pricing, lead times, and order status
- Coordinate with procurement or operations points of contact for accurate information
- Maintain customer records, pricing data, and sales documentation
- Assist with follow-ups on open quotes, backorders, and outstanding customer requests
- Provide documentation needed for compliance, traceability, or order packages
- Manage daily administrative tasks related to office operations
- Handle incoming calls, emails, and general correspondence
- Maintain organized electronic and physical files
- Assist with scheduling and meeting coordination
- Support invoicing, recordkeeping, and reporting tasks
- Coordinate office supply needs and service provider communications
- 1–3+ years of experience in office administration, inside sales, or customer support
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
- Prior work supporting defense contractors, aerospace firms, or government sales teams
- Familiarity with DLA, DoD, or prime contractors
- Understanding of contract terms, compliance, or basic FAR/DFARS concepts
This engagement supports a fast-paced, collaborative defense-contracting operation. While communication with the internal team is part of the work, the contractor manages their own methods and is engaged for completion of agreed-upon services rather than employee-type duties.
