Eligibility Support Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Eligibility Support Specialist to provide administrative and program support to eligibility staff responsible for processing financial assistance applications and continued eligibility determinations. This role is essential in ensuring efficient operations, exceptional customer service, and accurate record management while assisting individuals and families seeking public assistance programs.

The ideal candidate possesses strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to serving the public with professionalism and compassion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and program support to eligibility staff throughout the application and recertification process for financial assistance programs.
  • Answer and direct telephone inquiries, provide information to customers, and assist with routine correspondence.
  • Conduct face-to-face customer interviews and assist applicants in accurately completing required forms and documentation.
  • Prepare, maintain, organize, and file case records, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Review documents for completeness and accuracy before submitting to eligibility staff.
  • Perform data entry and maintain electronic and paper case files in accordance with agency policies.
  • Calculate and verify basic financial information using standard mathematical skills and calculators.
  • Prioritize daily assignments and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Provide prompt, courteous, and professional customer service to clients, coworkers, and the general public.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive client information and comply with all applicable policies and regulations.
  • Support eligibility staff with additional administrative duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous administrative, customer service, office support, or human services experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct interviews professionally and communicate with diverse populations.
  • Basic math proficiency and ability to perform routine calculations accurately.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and data entry systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in public assistance, human services, social services, or government programs.
  • Familiarity with eligibility processes, case management systems, or benefits administration.
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
