Your impactThe Electric Transmission Siting Professional will support electric utility clients, developers, and other infrastructure clients on transmission projects throughout planning, routing, siting, permitting, and stakeholder engagement phases. The position will contribute to the successful development of transmission facilities, including overhead and underground lines, substations, interconnections, and related infrastructure. Responsibilities will range from supporting individual technical tasks to leading complete siting work streams, managing project teams, and providing strategic client guidance.
The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across engineering, environmental, regulatory, real estate, legal, and stakeholder‑engagement disciplines.
- Manage assigned electric transmission siting work streams, route evaluations, and site screening from early feasibility through project development.
- Perform constraint screening, risk analysis, and route comparisons using GIS, property data, and technical studies
- Coordinate internal technical teams, engineering consultants, environmental specialists, survey crews, real estate representatives, regulators, and stakeholders.
- Prepare and quality‑control siting study reports, routing memoranda, permitting strategies, exhibits, presentations, and regulatory filings
- Track project schedules, critical decisions, stakeholder commitments, action items, and regulatory milestones.
- Identify risks affecting route viability, cost, schedule, permitting, or public acceptance, elevating strategic issues to senior leadership.
- Contribute to siting tools, templates, workflows, and internal best practices.
- Independently execute route, site, and constraint evaluations; apply professional judgment to identify opportunities, data gaps, and alternatives.
- Support landowner outreach, property research, access coordination, and right‑of‑way activities.
- Lead portions of client meetings, agency consultations, stakeholder discussions, and field activities
- Review junior staff work, providing task‑level direction, coaching, and quality control
- Recommend solutions to routine technical, coordination, and project‑management challenges while maintaining budget and schedule awareness.
- Bachelor's degree in planning, geography, environmental science, engineering, natural resources, real estate, public policy, or a related discipline (advanced degree or professional certification is beneficial).
- 4-8 years supporting electric transmission or other linear infrastructure projects, with demonstrated experience in route evaluation, permitting, and environmental planning.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and reviewing consultant deliverables
- Working familiarity with utility siting, transmission permitting, agency coordination, landowner outreach, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong technical writing, problem‑solving, prioritization, and GIS/project‑management tool skills.
- Willingness to travel periodically for site visits and project meetings.
