Business Office Manager
Physicians Surgery Center of Tidewater is seeking an experienced and motivated Business Office Manager to join our team. We are a busy multispecialty ambulatory surgery center serving the Tidewater community and are proud to be affiliated with United Surgical Partners International (USPI).

Position Summary
The Business Office Manager oversees all front-office operations and business office functions in support of USPI's mission, vision, and facility goals. Reporting directly to the Administrator, this position is responsible for ensuring efficient office operations, maintaining regulatory compliance, supervising business office personnel, and supporting special projects as needed.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, strong financial and billing knowledge, and the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, leadership, and staff while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
Business Office Operations
- Supervise front office staff and daily operations
- Scheduling and patient registration
- Medical records management
- Insurance verification and authorization processes
- Accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
- Invoice processing and payment management
- Billing, collections, and claims follow-up
- Patient account reimbursements and claims processing
- Cash management, bank deposits, and maintenance of deposit logs
- Payroll processing and oversight
- Credentialing support
- Surgical case analysis and reporting
- Other administrative and business office duties as assigned
Qualifications
Preferred Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting, including:
- Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC)
- Hospitals
- Physician practices
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management
- Proficiency in accounts payable, payroll, billing, collections, and insurance verification
- Experience with computerized accounting and practice management systems
- Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Anthem, PPO, HMO, and other third-party payers
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrates accountability, integrity, professionalism, adaptability, and innovation
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and contribute to team success
