Fay, S&B USA Construction builds complex infrastructure across the Mid‑Atlantic such as major bridges, tunnels, highways, and P3 programs that demand technical depth and strong field leadership. We are seeking an experienced Demolition Superintendent to oversee and execute complex bridge and structural demolition projects across our U.S. East Coast territory. This role requires 60‑80% regional travel to manage demolition operations, ensure strict OSHA compliance, and lead field crews directly on‑site in the Mid‑Atlantic Region.
Responsibilities / Functions- Plans and supervises demolition activities, including demolition methods, sequencing, manpower, equipment, material requirements, and work schedules.
- Directs field operations, personnel, and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
- Manages project productivity, labor efficiency, equipment utilization, and cost performance while maintaining safety, quality, and schedule objectives.
- Identifies and resolves field demolition, logistics, constructability, and operational challenges to maintain project progress, safety and production objectives.
- Ensures compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project‑specific requirements.
- Trains and manages foremen from various trades and field administrative personnel.
- Through assigned foremen, manages the day‑to‑day activities of the demolition operation.
- In conjunction with the Project Manager, creates and maintains project schedule; plans, monitors and reviews critical path dates and milestone schedules.
- Communicates site problems, conflicts, schedule and quality issues effectively to the Project Manager and owner.
- Maintains open communication between all subcontractors to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections and support for project activities and schedule.
- Monitors foremen & subcontractor compliance with project safety program requirements; ensures that weekly safety inspections and toolbox talks are completed and corrective measures are implemented.
- Assists the Safety Department in performing incident and/or accident investigations and follow‑up.
- Understands all subcontractors’ scopes; assures subcontractors maintain schedules and quality standards that meet contract requirements.
- Assists the Project Manager with subcontractor disputes, quality control and schedule coordination.
- Works with the Project Manager and owner’s representatives to ensure work complies with drawings and specifications.
- Supports the Project Manager in the negotiation of claims and changes.
- Provides input to Project Manager regarding cost and schedule forecasts.
- Assists the Project Manager with review (% complete) of monthly pay requests submitted by contractors.
- Assists the Project Manager with change order review.
- Performs project close‑out and ensures punch list is completed in a timely manner.

- Mentors Project Engineers assigned to the project.
- Ensures daily recording of quantities, time and daily logs in Heavy Job.
- Minimum 8–10 years of heavy civil construction experience, including at least 5 years in a Superintendent or Foreman leadership role managing bridge and structural demolition projects.
- Heavy highway bridge demolition projects that included concrete structures, steel structures, and installation/removal of demolition shields.
- Working over and adjacent to railroads, vehicular and pedestrian traffic, and marine environments.
- Working knowledge of cranes and rigging.
- Experience managing demolition utilizing cranes, hydraulic excavators, hoe‑rams, wire saws, mechanical demolition, controlled structural dismantling, demolition shielding systems, and temporary support structures.
