Site Safety and Health Officer
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to support projects in Virginia Beach. This individual will serve as the primary onsite safety representative and be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing all project safety requirements in accordance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA standards, and site-specific safety plans. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting federal construction projects, possess strong knowledge of EM 385 requirements, and be capable of independently managing all safety functions on an active renovation project.
Responsibilities
+ Implement, monitor, and enforce project safety requirements.
+ Serve as the primary onsite safety representative.
+ Manage all safety functions from project startup through completion.
+ Ensure compliance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA standards, and site-specific safety plans.
+ Identify and mitigate risks in an active construction environment.
+ Enforce safety standards across all trades.
+ Conduct site inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
+ Communicate effectively with field personnel, subcontractors, and project leadership.
Essential Skills
+ OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification
+ Minimum 24 hours of formal Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) training
+ 40-Hour EM 385-1-1 Certification
+ Competent Person (CP) and/or Qualified Person (QP) training (minimum 16-24 hours)
+ Strong understanding of EM 385 requirements
+ Experience supporting federal construction projects
+ Ability to independently manage all site safety functions

+ Confidence in enforcing safety standards across all trades

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $140000.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
