Grade 6​/8 English Teacher

General Responsibilities

Under the direction of the school principal, plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students. Create an atmosphere conducive to intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of all students. Supervise students across various school settings, monitor and evaluate student outcomes, and communicate with students, parents, staff, and community. Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet diverse student needs.

Maintain records and follow required procedures, and monitor the use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.

Knowledge of VBCPS curriculum and integration techniques, VBCPS policies, and effective instructional practices; thorough understanding of the teaching and learning process; ability to provide instruction reflecting multiple perspectives and multicultural education; ability to infuse technology into curriculum; effective collaboration with administrators, colleagues, central office, school-based staff, students, parents, and community; excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

• Bachelor's Degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
• Eligible for or possessing a teacher license from the Virginia Department of Education.

  Entry-level salary of $55,687, with adjustments based on creditable full-time experience.
