General Responsibilities
Under direction of the school principal, plan and provide for appropriate learning experiences for students. Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Supervise students in a variety of school‑related settings. Monitor and evaluate student outcomes. Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and community. Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices. Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.

- Knowledge of VBCPS curriculum and techniques for integrating curriculum, VBCPS policies and effective instructional practices;
- Thorough understanding of the teaching and learning process;
- Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education;
- Ability to infuse technology into curriculum;
- Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school‑based staff, students, parents, and community;
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

Compensation and ScheduleThis is an itinerant position;
Strawbridge is the home school, but the selected applicant will be scheduled to work at other elementary schools. Please request details about the schedule at the interview.
Anticipated Dates:
April 2026‑TBD
Substitute Daily Rate: $125.00 per day if not licensed
Substitute Daily Rate: $135.00 per day if licensed
Substitute Long‑term Rate: $205.00 per day
To be eligible for the long‑term rate of pay, qualified candidates must be licensed in Virginia with an endorsement in the subject area or be immediately eligible for that license.
After substituting for 20 consecutive days in this position, the long‑term rate will apply upon the 21st day of substituting. The candidate selected for this long‑term substitute position will only receive the long‑term rate of pay if eligible for this rate (see above).
Qualified candidates must be endorsed to teach the subject at the school level or be eligible for a teaching license in the subject area.
