Technical Training Specialist

Good Faith Pay Range:
In accordance with Virginia law, the good-faith pay range for this position is $65,000-$70,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, skills, and other legitimate business factors.

The Technical Training Specialist delivers high-quality, instructor-led technical training that helps learners build practical, job-ready skills they can apply immediately. This role is responsible for preparing and facilitating technical courses, validating lab environments, supporting learner success, maintaining technical subject matter expertise, and partnering within the Learning & Technology team to continuously improve course quality and delivery. The Technical Training Specialist delivers precision-built capability experiences, with a focus on learning that changes what people can do—not just what they know. Every class should leave learners able to immediately apply what they've learned in the workplace.

Primary Areas of Instruction

  • CompTIA certification courses (A+, Network+, Security+, SecurityX, Linux+, CySA+, Cloud+)
  • Microsoft Power Platforms
  • Microsoft Sharepoint, Project and other Microsoft Technologies
  • Other technologies as assigned

Essential Responsibilities

  • Deliver instructor-led technical training in classroom, virtual, and hybrid environments.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into practical, learner-friendly instruction.
  • Prepare and validate labs, software, equipment, and learning environments before delivery.
  • Troubleshoot classroom, learner, software, lab, and technical issues during live instruction.
  • Demonstrate real-world use cases, best practices, and practical application of technologies taught.
  • Answer advanced learner questions beyond the published curriculum when appropriate.
  • Maintain technical expertise, certifications, and instructional readiness.
  • Review certification exam changes and recommend curriculum updates.
  • Support learners during class through coaching and technical guidance.
  • Monitor learner engagement, comprehension, lab completion, and feedback.
  • Document delivery observations, recurring learner questions, and recommended improvements.
  • Participate in course pilots, lab testing, and facilitator readiness activities.
  • Partner with Learning & Technology to improve curriculum, labs, assessments, and delivery methods.
  • Represent Skill Ops professionally while building trust with learners and client stakeholders.
  • Utilize AI-enabled tools where appropriate to improve instructional preparation and learner engagement.
  • Travel to client locations as required for onsite training delivery

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years delivering instructor-led technical training or comparable technical education.
  • Expertise in one or more Microsoft technologies, CompTIA certification domains, or enterprise software platforms.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills in live learning environments.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for learners with varying experience levels.
  • Experience working with virtual labs, cloud-based learning environments, or hands-on technical labs.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as required
