The Braid Lounge Apprenticeship Program is a structured 90-day, hands-on development pathway for serious candidates pursuing a professional braiding career.

Apprentices train inside a high-performance salon environment, gaining real-time experience in assisting, foundational services, and technical skill development.

Promotion to Emerging Braider is earned upon successful completion of program benchmarks and final evaluation.

Program Overview

The Braid Lounge Apprenticeship Program is a structured, 90-day hands-on development experience inside a high-performance salon environment.

This program is designed for disciplined, coachable individuals who are serious about becoming professional braiders and earning their place on our team.

What Apprentices Can Expect:
  • Assisting on professional braid installations
  • Removal and foundational braid service training
  • Guided skill development in sectioning, tension control, and installation techniques
  • Weekly performance evaluations and structured benchmarks
  • Real-time exposure to salon standards, client experience, and team expectations

Apprentices train alongside experienced braiders and are evaluated consistently throughout the program.

Performance & Promotion

This is a performance-based program.

Apprentices must demonstrate measurable technical growth, professionalism, and reliability within the first 45 days to remain in the program.

Upon successful completion of the 90-day evaluation period and mastery of required skill benchmarks, apprentices may be promoted to the Emerging Braider tier.

Promotion is earned — not automatic.

Program Structure

The Apprenticeship Program operates on a rolling intake basis. Candidates are considered throughout the year as training capacity allows.

Due to the hands‑on and performance‑driven nature of this program, acceptance is limited.

Weekly Commitment

Apprentices are expected to maintain consistent weekly availability, including Saturdays, with a minimum commitment of 15-20 hours per week during the training period.

Compensation

The Braid Lounge Apprenticeship Program is a paid, hourly position during the 90-day training period.

Compensation details, including hourly rate and transition structure upon promotion to Emerging Braider, will be discussed during the interview process.

Professional Standards

Apprentices must uphold The Braid Lounge standards in:

  • Attendance and punctuality
  • Professional presentation and conduct
  • Salon maintenance and teamwork
  • Client interaction and service quality

This program is designed for individuals who are ready to meet professional expectations and grow within a structured team environment.

Required Training Materials

Accepted candidates are required to purchase a professional braiding training kit prior to their start date.

This kit ensures each apprentice is fully prepared for hands‑on development beginning in Week One.

The kit may include:

Mannequin head(s) for structured practice

Professional combs, clips, and essential braiding tools

Braiding hair for technical drills

Product samples

Braid Lounge Academy training workbook

Required program uniform

Total kit investment: up to $250 (maximum).

Payment plan options may be available upon request.

This investment reflects the professional standard expected of all participants in the Apprenticeship Program.

Post-Completion Employment Commitment

Upon successful completion of the 90-day Apprenticeship Program and promotion to Emerging Braider, participants are required to remain employed with The Braid Lounge for a minimum of twelve (12) months in good standing.

This commitment allows apprentices to fully transition into producing professionals within the salon environment while ensuring a fair return on the structured investment made in their training, development, and advancement.

Specific employment terms, including prorated reimbursement obligations in the event of early resignation, will be outlined in the formal Apprenticeship Agreement provided upon acceptance into the program.

Thank you for your interest in The Braid Lounge Apprenticeship Program.

This is a structured, performance-based training pathway designed for serious candidates pursuing a professional braiding career.
