DSC Project Coordinator

The City of Virginia Beach Development Services Center (DSC) with the Department of Planning and Community Development is seeking DSC Project Coordinator I to join our team. The DSC reviews and approves all site development plans for the City of Virginia Beach. • Manage the City's review of, and issue City approvals for, private land development projects such as commercial site plans, subdivision construction plans, multifamily and multiuse plans, preliminary subdivisions, final subdivision plats, and associated legal documents and design variances.
• Facilitate project meetings with developers, design consultants and city staff.
• Provide leadership, guidance and training to the City's review team and customers.
• Communicate clearly, in writing and verbally, the City's development requirements, meeting notes, review comments and processes.
• Provide oversight of City's development processes from pre-submittal, through review, approval, permitting, inspection, and bond release phases.
• Ordinances and Policies and subsequent changes.
• Identify possible process improvements and be engaged in implementing them.
• Position requires occasional site visits to address construction or design issues.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service with empathy and respect.
• Review plans and other documents on-screen via electronic submittals.
• Proficient use of the City's GIS mapping and Accela tracking system.
• Attend, represent the City, and participate at citizen forums and civic league meetings as necessary.
