Looking to continue your service to the country while applying your expertise in shipboard systems to enhance the availability of U.S. Navy aircraft carriers. Join the Carrier Availability Support Team (CAST) program as a full‑time member located in Virginia Beach, VA.
What You Will Do- Lead the technical planning, execution, and integration of depot‑level work packages with Ship’s Force tasks to ensure seamless maintenance scheduling and project alignment onboard CVN platforms.
- Provide expert guidance and formal training to Ship’s Force personnel on industrial availability management, work package development, and production team composition and tracking.
- Oversee maintenance procedures and quality assurance for Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) and Aviation Fuels systems, ensuring all work complies with NAVSEA and organizational standards.
- Develop and maintain rigorous Measures of Effectiveness (MOE) to evaluate availability progress, utilizing Microsoft software to analyze metrics and identify production constraints.
- Act as a primary technical writer and communicator to brief all levels of the Chain of Command on availability status, technical risks, and resource requirements.
- 6 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 4 years relevant experience with a Master’s degree in a related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
- Strong background associated with shipboard systems.
- Senior‑level experience in Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) or Aviation Fuels equipment maintenance procedures on a CVN.
- Strong technical writing ability and proven capability to communicate effectively to all levels of the Chain of Command.
- Computer skills must include proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access).
- US Citizen with a current, active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- Proficiency in the shipboard Organizational Maintenance Management System (OMMS) – Next Generation (NG) and/or the shipyard Advanced Industrial Management (AIM) systems.
- Experience at a public or private shipyard engaged in CVN maintenance, substituting for military experience if minimum qualifications are met.
- Experience on the Availability project team.
May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
