Overview
WSP is initiating a search for a Senior Lead Electrical Engineering Manager to work out of Boise, ;
Virginia Beach, VA; or Huntsville, AL. The role supports the Government Services Division and contributes to projects that meet client objectives and address challenges.
- Coordinate, review and approve electrical design plans, ensuring data integrity and compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Apply high-level electrical engineering techniques to identify improvements across project phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.
- Plan and incorporate future-ready techniques, operating strategies, and design requirements to ensure safety and functionality for end-users, systems, and infrastructure.
- Manage design and construction of electrical systems from project inception to completion.
- Oversee cross-functional teams to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, hours and expenses tracking, task completion, technical calculations, construction, compliance documentation, and regulatory/technical analysis memos.
- Prepare data and visualizations (tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, cross-sections) for interpretation or presentation of complex data, findings, or analyses.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations addressing design and/or construction issues or opportunities.
- Manage client relationships and provide key technical input on pursuit efforts.
- Develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
- 15+ years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer.
- Professional Engineering license.
- Due to client requirements, US citizenship is required.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical design, particularly in the DoD industry with experience with DoD criteria such as FC 1-300-9N, UFC 3-501-01, and UFC 3-550-01.
- Proficient with electrical engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
- Experience with electrical planning, design, and construction management; including involvement in renovation, new design, and construction projects.
- Knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Ability to perform technical computations, understand plans and specifications, and compare to applicable regulations.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office software, and design tools (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Navisworks, SKM, ETAP, AGI 32).
- Ability to coordinate and direct others to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP safety policies.
- Flexible to various schedules to meet business needs and able to adapt to change under pressure.
- Ability to work beyond typical work weeks as project requirements demand.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
- Experience managing small to mega-size projects.
- Experience executing design-build projects.
- Experience managing direct reports within electrical engineering.
- LEED AP and PMP certifications (additional).
