Busch Vacuum Solutions has an immediate direct hire opportunity for an experienced Sourcing Buyer – Indirect Material, MRO & CAPEX at our manufacturing plant in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Job OverviewThe Sourcing Buyer – Indirect Material, MRO & CAPEX works as a commodity manager responsible for setting and executing commodity strategies across indirect materials, maintenance, repair and operations (MRO), and capital expenditures (CAPEX). This role manages purchase requests, supplier selection, pricing, and contract negotiations. It develops and executes strategic supplier plans to reduce cost, maximize inventory turns, shorten lead times, and improve overall business efficiency.
Job Responsibilities- Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other departments to lead or execute sourcing projects.
- Solicit quotations from current and new suppliers, verify specifications, drawings, or statements of work, and resolve technical questions between supplier and engineering/quality.
- Prepare, evaluate, and recommend cost savings projects and new product programs.
- Track commodity pricing and develop pricing analyses for negotiations.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders within the Busch Group to lead or execute sourcing projects.
- Coordinate with Global Purchasing counterparts in Germany and Switzerland to solicit quotations and participate in global sourcing decisions.
- Aid in development of supply agreements and strategic pricing, inventory, and delivery plans with major suppliers.
- Negotiate commercial issues with suppliers.
- Interface with Quality Assurance to ensure suppliers address quality issues.
- Lead quality and delivery improvement projects with North American suppliers.
- Develop new suppliers to meet Busch supplier standards for quality, cost, delivery, and partnership.
- Maintain contact with suppliers, provide performance and cost feedback, and coordinate visits.
- Aid Procurement Buyers in issuing purchase orders and maintaining pricing in SAP.
- Aid Purchasing Planner with escalated expediting needs.
- Follow Global Sourcing and Busch Manufacturing processes and procedures and aid in internal process improvements.
- 5+ years of manufacturing purchasing experience in a strategic role with indirect material, MRO & CAPEX (including strategic sourcing, category management, spend analytics).
- Experience leading contract negotiations, supplier management, and cost reduction strategies (7+ years preferred).
- Basic understanding of legal aspects of business, purchasing, and ethics.
- Basic understanding of multiple types of components and commodities.
- Experience negotiating with vendors and driving cost reduction initiatives.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Experience with SAP ERP and ARIBA systems.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, V‑lookup) and Word.
- Proficiency in PowerPoint and ERP systems.
- Certifications such as CPSM or APICS are preferred.
- Self‑motivated with high initiative and accountability.
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
- Collaborative team player with a positive and professional attitude.
- Ability to work independently and cross‑functionally.
- Strong oral and written communication in English.
- Pass a 10‑panel drug screen and a 7‑year criminal history check (most felonies are disqualifiers).
- Willingness to travel up to 10% locally, domestically, and internationally, including overnight stays.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license that meets Busch insurance standards.
- Must have current work authorization in the United States; visa sponsorship not available.
