The City of Virginia Beach Development Services Center (DSC) with the Department of Planning and Community Development is seeking a Stormwater Engineer II/III to join our team. The DSC reviews and approves all site development plans for the City of Virginia Beach. The position may be classified as a Engineer II or Engineer III I depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

  • Engineer II: $69,298.32 - $
  • Engineer III: $80,221.47 - $
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Review site development plans, subdivision construction plans and as-built surveys, plats, legal documents and cost estimates for conformance with City and State regulations, codes and policies;
  • Review and analyze stormwater management, drainage and grading, street improvements and other public and private infrastructure;
  • Write comments explaining required revisions; approve development plans and associated engineering calculations and reports;
  • Position requires site visits to troubleshoot, compare plans with field conditions, and help resolve construction issues;
  • Assist customers in a professional manner in person, by phone and e‑mail, and participate in project meetings and staff team meetings to coordinate reviews;
  • Virginia DEQ certifications as a stormwater and E and S Reviewer required within one year of employment;
  • Review, coordinate, and respond to questions related to stormwater management modeling design;
  • Must have an understanding of local and state SWM regulations;
  • Must be knowledgeable of hydrologic and hydraulic stormwater computations and stormwater management routing calculations
