A leading multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm is seeking a Licensed Surveyor to step into the role of Survey Division Manager in Virginia Beach, VA. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead a growing survey team that supports a wide range of public and private sector projects, including infrastructure, land development, and utility work. The firm is known for combining technical excellence with practical solutions, and this role plays a pivotal part in ensuring survey deliverables are accurate, timely, and aligned with project goals.
Key Responsibilities- Execute and review advanced geomatics and survey calculations to support mapping, right-of-way documents, and plats.
- Conduct research and compile data relevant to property boundaries, easements, and title documentation.
- Analyze deeds, title reports, and legal descriptions to support the production of accurate survey deliverables.
- Prepare or direct the preparation of survey reports, legal descriptions, and client‑ready deliverables.
- Coordinate project timelines, cost estimates, and schedules in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead quality control efforts to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all survey products.
- Guide and mentor survey analysts and technicians to ensure consistency, accuracy, and professional development.
- Review field notes and field crew data to verify accuracy and completeness.
- Serve as the technical lead on survey-related tasks and manage multiple assignments across a range of project types.
- Interface with clients and other departments to provide exceptional service and ensure project alignment.
- Active Professional Surveyor and Mapper (P.S.) license in the State of Virginia.
- 2‑5 years of experience post‑licensure in a leadership or management capacity within the surveying profession.
- Advanced proficiency with Civil 3D and CAD‑based surveying workflows.
- In‑depth knowledge of land surveying principles and experience with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, boundary surveys, and construction staking.
- Proven track record managing deliverables and timelines for both public and private sector projects.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including mentoring and team management.
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple concurrent tasks.
- Familiarity with engineering design and construction workflows as they relate to surveying.
- Experience interacting directly with clients and project teams.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and proactively solve problems.
- Proficiency with modern field equipment and survey procedures.
