Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Roadway Engineer to support our transportation projects in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The engineer will work with a team to plan and design roadway projects, including intersections, interchanges, new alignments, widenings, roundabouts, interstates, and pedestrian and bicycle facilities.

Responsibilities

The Roadway Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Designing horizontal and vertical alignments, developing roadway plans and profiles, evaluating roadside elements, and maintaining traffic design.
  • Preparing construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment via comity from another state.
  • 11-15 years of relevant roadway engineering experience (experience with VDOT preferred).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Proficiency with Micro Station, Open Roads, and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
