Summary

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer with a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification to design, implement, and sustain critical communications infrastructure for DoD and federal customers. The ideal candidate has extensive expertise with structured cabling systems, ISP/OSP design, and building communications distribution architectures that meet BICSI, NEC, TIA, and DoD UFC standards. Responsibilities include facility design, engineering design packages, site surveys, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams for reliable, scalable, and secure communication pathways.

What

You Will Do
  • Develop detailed telecom infrastructure designs, including ISP/OSP cabling, pathway layouts, MDF/IDF spaces, and distribution systems.
  • Produce engineering design packages, drawings, and specifications compliant with BICSI, UFC, NEC, TIA, and DoD requirements.
  • Conduct site surveys to assess existing infrastructure, identify deficiencies, and propose upgrade or expansion solutions.
  • Create and review engineering documentation such as rack elevations, one‑line diagrams, cable schedules, and as‑built records.
  • Collaborate with network engineering, facilities engineering, and construction teams to ensure seamless integration.
  • Provide technical oversight during installation to align with design intent.
  • Support system integration, testing, and quality assurance activities.
  • Participate in customer meetings, design reviews, technical briefings, and project coordination sessions.
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and DoD communications requirements.
What You Must Have
  • 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's; 7 years with Master’s; 4 years with PhD/Juris Doctor; or high school equivalent with 13 years; and active Secret clearance with potential to obtain TS/SCI.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Current RCDD certification.
  • 7+ years designing structured cabling systems, communications infrastructure, or network distribution architecture.
  • Strong understanding of ISP/OSP cabling, telecom room design, and communications pathways.
  • Experience developing design packages using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of BICSI, NEC, TIA, and DoD UFC standards.
  • Ability to conduct site surveys and produce accurate engineering documentation (drawings, cable schedules, as‑built).
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and customer‑facing skills.
Preferred Requirements
  • Experience supporting DoD, federal, or mission‑critical communications environments.
  • BICSI Technician or other industry certifications (CTS, CFHP, etc.).
  • Experience with C5

    ISR, command center, or secure facility infrastructure design.
  • Familiarity with RMF, cybersecurity fundamentals, or secure communications requirements.
  • Knowledge of power systems, grounding, and bonding for communications infrastructure.
Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
