Your Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Project Manager / Technical Lead – Linear Infrastructure who’s passionate about shaping water infrastructure and making a real impact within the community. In this role, you’ll lead the planning, design, and delivery of storm and sanitary sewer conveyance and water main distribution projects for clients across the Mid-Atlantic, working alongside a diverse group of technical experts to deliver meaningful solutions for our clients and communities.

Joining Stantec’s global network of over 600 distribution and conveyance engineers, with a reputation as a go‑to firm for these services, you will be given the opportunity to grow your career by leading iconic projects from first request through construction, shaping our established and talented local team and our North American Distribution and Conveyance Sectors. The role involves identifying, developing, pursuing, and winning projects with new and existing clientele to grow our conveyance trenchless condition assessment and rehabilitation business.

The position requires leadership in the execution and delivery of technically complex conveyance projects and provides opportunities for thought leadership through collaboration with research and innovation teams in the development and deployment of innovative technologies. The successful candidate will be someone with strong leadership and communication skills, market knowledge, business acumen combined with innovative ideas, and a successful history of client relations and account management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of design professionals and technicians
  • Mentor and supervise staff and develop high‑performing project teams
  • Perform business development/application tasks and collaborate with staff to increase project wins and develop long‑lasting client relationships
  • Participate in business line teams to manage and develop proposals; client‑facing for business development contact, meetings, walk‑downs, and presentations; create scope of work documents and estimates, collaborate with multiple business lines to develop opportunities; and perform quality reviews
  • Assist senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule
  • Perform complex engineering design tasks on assigned wastewater‑related projects through collaboration with a wide range of technical disciplines
  • Design basis documents, engineering calculations including water, heat, and material balances; equipment sizing and selection; engineering drawings such as block flow diagrams (BFDs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (PIDs); engineering reports; feasibility studies; and presentations to clients, regulatory agencies, and/or project stakeholders
  • Assist with the management of the design and construction of projects
  • Develop project management plans for projects; establish goals and objectives for unique and complex projects
  • Ensure projects achieve budget, schedule, and contractual obligations
  • Conduct and/or coordinate quality assurance and quality control on assigned projects and facilitate independent technical review of projects by others
  • Participate in the permitting process of projects, meeting with clients, contractors, interested stakeholder parties, and reviewing agency personnel
  • Make decisions on large projects and coordinate with regulatory review to seek final approval
  • Manage projects of varying complexity within multidisciplinary teams
  • Research and understand issues related to regulatory and other drivers that impact projects
  • Assist business leaders in project revenue forecasting
  • Oversee proposals, including development of the scope and level of effort for comparable size projects
  • Make decisions and recommendations governed by general policy and project management governance
  • Supervise local staff and provide mentoring and coaching for future leaders, including development of succession plans for key positions
