Job Summary
Integrated Naval Combat Systems Engineer – Full Time/Salaried/Exempt –
Location:
Virginia Beach, VA – Salary Range: $68,050 – $90,001.60 – Security Clearance:
Secret – Mid level experience. This position is onsite at HII in Virginia Beach, VA.
- Perform technical planning, system integration, verification & validation, supportability, and effectiveness analyses for total training systems with a focus on ballistic missile defense scenarios.
- Convert customer or product requirements, including MDA requirements for threat models and operational protocols, into total training system solutions that account for technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Conduct functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirement gathering, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into software specifications.
- Apply extensive technical expertise and maintain knowledge of related disciplines.
- Communicate effectively and present technical approaches, including SYSML models and simulation results, to stakeholders.
- Develop technical solutions to complex problems, including innovative approaches to simulate ballistic missile threats and countermeasures.
- Participate in Interface Working Groups and Interface Control Working Groups.
- Document system architecture using SYSML and ensure it meets ballistic missile defense training needs.
- Maintain an active or obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- Undergo pre‑employment background investigation and drug screening per Mission Technologies requirements.
- Meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- Work onsite at HII in Virginia Beach, VA.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2+ years relevant experience, OR Master’s degree in a related field (0 years experience required), OR High School Diploma/equivalent with 6+ years relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience with Shipboard Combat Systems, Aegis Weapon Systems, or BMD mission operations.
- Strong background in system testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of complex electronic/network systems.
- U.S. Citizen.
- Current or active DoD Secret Clearance.
- Experience working with DoD customers, projects, and processes, particularly related to ballistic missile defense.
- Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following Naval System areas:
- AEGIS
- Strong understanding of ballistic missile defense concepts and technologies.
- Proven experience with requirement gathering and analysis, particularly in the context of training systems.
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, GSEC, SSCP, or higher).
- Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
