Tunneling & Trenchless Engineer

Overview

AECOM is seeking a qualified, motivated individual in our Virginia Beach, VA office to support our Global Tunneling & Trenchless Group operating throughout North America. The candidate will have experience with various trenchless engineering and construction techniques including horizontal directional drilling (HDD), microtunneling (MT), guided bore and other new installation trenchless methods, with an interest in expanding their knowledge. The position includes project planning, design and construction services oversight, schedule and budget management, and client interface in a consulting engineering environment.

The successful candidate should communicate effectively with project team members, demonstrate initiative and motivation to learn and deliver quality results, possess strong problem-solving skills, and work collaboratively to provide value-added, innovative solutions.

• Work within a team as a mid-level member or task manager.
• Prepare engineering calculations supporting trenchless or tunneling designs and develop drawings and visual aids.
• Conduct site visits and observe ground and site conditions.
• Potentially spend time on site as an inspector.
• Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out trenchless engineering tasks.
• Interpret and apply geotechnical, geologic or hydrogeologic investigation results in supporting designs on a variety of trenchless and tunneling projects.
• Work within a variety of industries including oil and gas, water and wastewater, telecommunications and power, supporting their conveyance infrastructure.
