Position: SUPERVISORY ENGINEER/ARCHITECT

Summary

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEER/ARCHITECT in the Project Management & Engineering Directorate, Resident Officer in Charge of Construction (ROICC Oceana), Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Mid-Atlantic of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will oversee all aspects of assigned construction work, including mentoring and training of subordinate staff. You will provide representation (if needed) on construction contract selection and claims boards; review proposed field changes for engineering/architectural soundness and adequacy and ensure they are within the assigned funds. You will provide feedback on the annual resource requirements for the projected workload. You will serve as the primary point of contact and team leader for coordination of assigned Capital Improvements Business Line (CIBL) construction projects within your branch.

Qualifications
  • Current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) in any state, the District of Columbia, Guam or Puerto Rico (Selective Placement Factor).
  • At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS‑12 grade level in managing construction contracts, developing project scopes, cost estimates, and/or design builds/request for proposals.
  • Expert guidance to engineers, architects and technicians on architectural and engineering methods during design and construction phases.
  • Monitoring of quality assurance and safety compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Evaluation of facility construction workload against critical priorities to develop creative, technically sound solutions.
Education
  • Architectural degree with at least 30 semester hours in architectural design and 6 semester hours in each of structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems.
  • Or a combination of education and experience that furnishes a thorough knowledge of professional architecture principles and methods.
  • General Engineer: successful completion of a professional engineering degree from an ABET‑accredited program or equivalent coursework covering required engineering sciences.
  • Or current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
