Insight Global is seeking a Transportation Engineer to support roadway design projects across multiple stages of the project lifecycle. This individual will work within CAD platforms, with a preference for Bentley Micro Station Open Roads Designer (Civil 3D experience is also acceptable with a willingness to learn ORD). The engineer will be responsible for developing roadway design models and construction plan sets, supporting project delivery, and collaborating closely with project managers and team members to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and deliverables.
Depending on experience level, responsibilities may also include project leadership, client coordination, and mentorship of junior staff.
Project work includes a diverse mix of VDOT and local municipality initiatives, including roadway intersection improvements, corridor and streetscape enhancements, multi-use trail design, pedestrian improvements, alternative intersection configurations (such as RCUTs), and ITS structure replacements. Working within a collaborative team of approximately 25 professionals, this individual will typically contribute to one or two projects at a time, participate in regular coordination meetings, and take on increasing ownership and technical complexity as they grow within the organization.
Success in this role requires strong technical proficiency in roadway design and modeling, knowledge of DOT standards and highway design principles, and experience developing project cost estimates. Experience with drainage design, grading, traffic engineering, and water resource best management practices (BMPs) is preferred but not required. We are seeking a self-starter who is collaborative, growth-oriented, and interested in building a long-term career with a company that offers increasing technical and project leadership opportunities.
