Position Summary:

The Unmanned Systems (UxS) Technician supports the integration, assembly, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of advanced unmanned systems and associated technologies for United States Special Operations Command. The technician will build, configure, troubleshoot, and sustain unmanned platforms while supporting payload integration, embedded systems development, flight operations, and rapid prototyping initiatives. This position serves as a critical link between engineering design and operational fielding efforts, ensuring systems are mission‑ready, reliable, and effective for Special Operations Forces applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Integrate systems and technologies onto unmanned platforms
  • Build, assemble, configure, and modify unmanned aerial systems
  • Integrate embedded systems supporting command and control, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities
  • Perform testing, evaluation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of unmanned systems
  • Build and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical assemblies
  • Select and integrate electronic components, sensors, and supporting hardware
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers
  • Perform precision soldering and electronic repair activities
  • Develop rapid prototypes using CAD and additive manufacturing technologies
  • Upload, test, validate, and troubleshoot firmware and embedded software
  • Support developmental testing, demonstrations, operational exercises, and fielding events
Required Qualifications:
  • US Citizen
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Must hold an active Secret Security Clearance with TS/SCI Eligibility
  • Demonstrate strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Demonstrate self‑motivation and critical thinking skills.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or applicable engineering or science discipline, or qualifying equivalent experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience with a degree, or seven (7) years of applicable experience without a degree
  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or ability to obtain within six months of employment
  • Experience supporting Group 1 and/or Group 2 Unmanned Systems assembly, integration, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair
  • Experience with commercially available unmanned systems preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of Beta Flight, Ardu Pilot, and PX4
  • Extensive hands‑on experience building drones
  • Knowledge of electric propulsion and combustible power systems
  • Experience building, testing, diagnosing, and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical assemblies
  • Experience utilizing oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment
  • Experience selecting electronic components and sensors
  • Proficiency using Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) software supporting rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing
  • Experience utilizing Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), and Stereo lithography (SLA) additive manufacturing technologies
  • Skilled in soldering and de‑soldering electronic components, including Surface Mount Devices (SMD)
  • Familiarity with C, C++, and Python programming languages
  • Adhere to USSOCOM security requirements, cybersecurity requirements, and non‑disclosure obligations.
  • Obtain and maintain installation access credentials and Department of Defense Common Access Card credentials, as required.
  • Sign required Non‑Disclosure Agreements prior to performance.
  • Be capable of supporting surge operations, contingency activities, and mission‑essential requirements when directed.
Physical Ability to:
  • Ability to work in a laboratory, fabrication, and engineering shop environment.
  • Ability to work around loud industrial equipment and power tools.
  • Ability to safely operate fabrication equipment and engineering support tools.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to support testing events and field activities as required.
