Preferred Qualifications:
Project Engineer for the Stormwater Engineer Center Come join the Stormwater Engineering Center for an exciting opportunity to be part of the team delivering the City of Virginia Beach's Flood Protection Program. This position may be classified as an Engineer I, Engineer II, or Engineer III, depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected applicant. The selected candidate will work in the Stormwater Technical Services Section of the Stormwater Engineering Center within the Department of Public Works.
This position performs a variety of complex professional engineering duties related to stormwater infrastructure, planning, design, and project delivery.
Representative duties include, but are not limited to:
Manage projects associated with the City's Stormwater Master Plan Update. Perform and/or oversee stormwater modeling, analyses, and technical studies. Review complex drainage plans, engineering studies, and related technical documents. Manage engineering and professional services contracts. Manage the design and construction of Flood Protection Program projects.
In addition to the minimum requirements, the ideal candidate for this positions will have experience listed in the preference below. Ideal Candidate must possess:Engineer I
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related field, or Associates degree with six years of progressive experience of engineering level work.
Engineer II
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related field with possession of an E.I.T. (Engineer In Training) Certificate and two (2) years of progressive professional experience.
Engineer III
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related field with possession of a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license from the Virginia Board of Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Certified Interior Designers and Landscape Architects (APELSCIDLA) and five (5) years of progressive professional experience.
