Job SummaryThe Financial Management Systems Director acts as the subject matter expert of finance systems, overseeing a portfolio of financial applications that advance finance management systems and applications at an enterprise level. The Director collaborates with stakeholders to optimize system functionality and capabilities, enhances efficiencies, and establishes synergy across system platforms. The role serves as Financial Systems Product Owner for analytics, reporting, testing, automation documentation standards, workflow redesign, and enterprise modernization initiatives, and directs and prioritizes the work of the Financial Management Systems team.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Design, manage, evaluate, and implement workflows, processes, and systems that deliver efficient and effective finance and administrative support.
- Lead the financial systems team as the primary Product Owner to maximize investments, drive positive enhancements, continuous improvement, adoption, and change management.
- Deliver business capabilities.
- Serve as the Finance main point of contact with IT for all financial systems, partnering to ensure successful integration with internal and external systems, troubleshooting inbound and outbound integrations, and managing priorities for finance system requests including new functionality, reporting, customizations, and integrations.
- Contribute to the overall success of application systems by generating, developing, and analyzing financial and operational reports, and providing support to finance management and business leaders.
- Own, prioritize, and manage the financial system backlog of changes; translate business requirements into backlog entries and specifications.
- Lead and/or participate in projects, including identifying and analyzing business needs, business case development, project planning and management, functional specification documentation, solution design and implementation, test planning and execution, deployment, and post‑deployment support.
- Incorporate feedback from users and stakeholders into the product backlog to guide future enhancements and prioritization.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to address decision points and action items from business partners and vendors; refer to management for resolution where applicable.
- Actively participate in pre‑ and post‑Go‑Live conversion efforts.
- Provide key financial system subject matter expertise and knowledge around data‑flow and enterprise integrations with other data producers and consumers.
- Participate in monthly release management and user acceptance testing; create test cases and manage user acceptance testing.
- Train customers and system end‑users on processes and functionality, and train new system users.
- Participate in and approve upgrades to production and test environments.
- Research and become an authoritative resource on industry and market trends related to the implementation of financial systems technology.
- Act as a positive change advocate during system and process transitions.
- Manage the development and communication of planning objectives, strategies, and timelines; provide support to end users.
- Lead and direct long‑term adoption strategies for new system functionality.
- Document and manage project‑related testing efforts.
- Act as a liaison among partners and end users to ensure clear communication regarding upgrade status to all stakeholders.
- Conduct trend analysis and monitor improvements to financial systems.
- Share information and updates about changes across financial teams and the broader organization where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, policy, procedural, and audit requirements.
- Coordinate communication and system change impacts across departments.
- Maintain steady‑state operation of financial systems to ensure data security, integrity, accuracy, and compliance (PII, segregation of duties, etc.), overseeing maintenance of data and ensuring timely availability of data and reports.
