- Compensation: $83,000-$110,000 per year, dependent on experience, qualifications, and internal equity
You will provide senior-level support to the Manager of Payroll, ensuring all payroll functions are processed timely, accurately, and in compliance with applicable regulations. You will be responsible for system maintenance, oversight of all payroll cycles, accounting entries and reconciliations, reporting, tax filings, and management of required interfaces. You will maintain a strong control environment to support accuracy, integrity, and compliance.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Processes payroll cycles from timekeeping through payment to income reporting for several pay groups including payrolls for expatriates. Ensures attainment of deadlines and compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Analyzes results and manages payroll discrepancies quickly and efficiently.
- Ensures mastery of the interworking of the HRIS Ulti Pro system including interdependencies of data and relevance to payroll processing. Writes and interprets system reports.
- Participates in upgrades, testing and implementations of software systems used by the payroll department.
- Prepares supplementary analyses and leads specialized payroll projects. Looks for opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency. Assists team members in finding solutions to intricate matters.
- Maintains and prepares payroll-related journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations, expatriate intercompany schedules, and month and year-end closing audit and tax schedules.
- Creates and maintains Standard Operating Procedures for departmental workflows and outbound data and reporting.
- Resolves and answers payroll-related questions from employees, management or other parties. Researches and assists in resolution of tax notifications and compliance with UKG.
- Compiles all fringe benefits including auto, relocation, and other taxable items and ensures accuracy of entry into employee wage payment records throughout the year.
- Supports internal and external audits related to payroll. Maintains ongoing education and knowledge of payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance for STIHL Inc.
- Understands, maintains and adheres to absolute confidentiality of all relative data, communications and information as set in company policies and standards.
- All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Associate degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- FPC required.
- CPP preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in federal and multistate payroll laws and regulations, payroll system management, tax and retirement plans, income tax and payroll tax forms (941, 940, W2, etc.), journal entries and account reconciliations, time and attendance, labor distribution, and gross to net payroll processing.
- Solid understanding of payroll compliance and the need for documented internal controls.
- UKG/Ulti Pro UTM and Core payroll experience preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication and the ability to explain complexities to non-payroll personnel.
- Must be detail-oriented, able to multi-task and work under tight deadlines with flexibility.
- Strong math, analytic and trouble‑shooting skills.
- Positive and professional demeanor, natural customer service skills and team player.
- 5-7 years of related work experience required.
