Job Summary
0.6 Part‑time
Responsible for providing preschool hearing screening, comprehensive testing and audiology processing evaluations, evaluating assistive listening devices, providing consultations to parents and training school system personnel.
Essential Functions- Screen preschoolers and school age population.
- Evaluate hearing acuity.
- Evaluate middle ear performance.
- Evaluate and select proper assistive listening devices.
- Follow through with medical referrals.
- Write reports based on findings.
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers and administrators with regard to test results and classroom modification strategies.
- Counsel family members with regard to test results and classroom modification strategies.
- Perform related work as required.
Skills and Abilities
Thorough understanding of audiological services; ability to consult with personnel and work with nurses, teachers, etc.
Education and ExperienceRequired: Master's Degree in Audiology. Possesses or is eligible for a Virginia state license to provide audiological services. Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech & Hearing Association.
A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Physical RequirementsMust have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public using the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Frequent sitting, walking, bending, grasping, fingering, repetitive motion, reaching, and driving. Occasional standing, stooping, and crouching. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds rarely.
Requires timely and regular adherence to established work schedules. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks.
Possession of a valid driver's license. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

Salary range: $67,640‑$98,664
Salary will be based on job‑related creditable years of full‑time, verified work experience. Entry‑level salary will be awarded at the time of hire. Upon the return of employment verification forms from the candidate's current and previous employers, the salary will be adjusted if creditable full‑time experience is confirmed.
