Summary
The Technologist Assistant is responsible for the maintenance and quality of patient care in the MRI department and throughout the organization.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesIdentifies patients and provides assistance with the completion of pre-procedure forms. Helps prepare all procedure rooms for examinations or procedures by obtaining required supplies and equipment.
Starts IV access according to standard procedure under the direction of a Radiologist, and in accordance with state law. Also disposes of contaminated waste according to regulatory policies.
Corroborates patient's clinical history with physicians' order and procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed independent practitioner. May also verify informed consent, if applicable.
Provides optimal patient care by explaining procedure to patient and answering questions. Observes/monitors patient for comfort, safety and mental and physical status. Alerts Technologist, Manger or Physician of patient problems or concerns.
Follows established Safety Standards to ensure safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel and visitors by requiring and supporting the establishment, maintenance and education of an effective safety management program.
Collaborates with referring clinics to facilitate patient care.
Assists staff with supply inventory needs and keeps rooms stocked as appropriate. Assists during procedures as requested and cleans exam rooms and equipment after procedures to prepare for next patient.
Maintains all medical record documentation in RIS and PACS as appropriate.
Participates in ongoing customer service and process improvement efforts.
Facilitates film/CD readiness as needed for patients and referring offices.
Participates in performance improvement activities.
Demonstrates consistent use of AIDET (Acknowledge patient, Introduce yourself, provide Duration/timeline for test, Explain the test, & Thank them for choosing our center) and HEAL (Hear them out, Empathize, Apologize, & Leap into action to solve) when interacting with patients/customers.
Takes the initiative to help other modalities/areas of the Imaging Center as assigned or when workload/area allows.
Attends/participates in staff meetings, in-services, and center-wide meetings as scheduled.
Helps move patient's safety and effectively per departmental procedure. Exercises caution with regards to oxygen tanks and other medical devices. Recognizes and effectively resolves, equipment or patient problems and brings to attention of Technologist, Physician or Manager as appropriate
Performs all other duties as assigned. This includes, but is not limited to, burning CDs, collection of films, obtaining comparison films screening patient and paperwork for submission to the Radiologist.

Minimum Required
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education:
Graduation from an approved Medical program or courses completed in Medical Technology.
Experience:
Minimum ofone to two years' experience in ahealthcare setting or Medical Assistant experience preferred.
BLS certification required within 60 days of hire.
