The Lifestyle and Wellness Coordinator plans and manages wellness, lifestyle, aquatics, and hospitality programs for Opus Select
, a luxury apartment community for residents aged 62+. The role focuses on creating an engaging environment that supports active aging, social connection, learning, and overall well-being. The coordinator collaborates with the Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay campus to expand programming and shared activities, oversees compliance and operations for the outdoor saltwater pool and aquatics program, and manages the weekday continental breakfast service.

The position also promotes resident engagement while upholding the organization’s core values of respect, passion, and professionalism.

What You'll Do In This Role Lifestyle & Wellness Programming

Plan and implement a monthly calendar of wellness, social, educational, and recreational programs.

Assess resident interests to ensure engaging and inclusive activities.

Coordinate fitness classes, events, excursions, and enrichment programs.

Collaborate with Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay and external partners.

Manage event logistics, scheduling, and program evaluation.

Introduce new residents to programs and encourage participation.

Aquatics & Pool Operations

Maintain City of Virginia Beach pool certifications and annual licensing.

Oversee safe operation of the outdoor saltwater pool.

Coordinate maintenance, inspections, and water quality with pool vendors.

Monitor pool safety, equipment, and supplies.

Maintain CPR certification and respond to emergencies.

Manage weekday continental breakfast planning, sourcing, and inventory.

Coordinate daily setup, presentation, and cleanup.

Ensure quality, cost control, and food safety standards.

Administration & Communication

Manage program budgets and vendor documentation.

Track participation and maintain compliance records.

Communicate programming through newsletters, calendars, and announcements.

The Experience You'll Bring Required
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience leading and developing fitness programming.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience within budgeting, vendor management, and inventory management.
  • Current CPR certification and ability to perform lifesaving techniques.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required City of Virginia Beach pool certifications.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Sports Medicine, Therapeutic Recreation, Hospitality Management, or related field.
  • Certification as instructor/personal trainer from ACSM, NASM, NSCA, ACE, or similar.
  • Experience managing aquatics operations.
  • Experience in hospitality-style service delivery for active adult or senior living communities.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite.
