The Department is seeking qualified Community Maternal Child Health Workers to support community engagement, education, and connections to health and wellness resources for mothers, children, and families. This role focuses on promoting positive parent-child attachment, supporting healthy child and family development, and strengthening family resilience.
Overall responsibilities include engaging with families in the community to promote maternal child health programs, initiating and maintaining regular contact with families in their homes and in the community, engaging family participants in activities, providing resources, referrals and advocacy, and working with community partners to meet the families' needs. Facilitate and coordinate maternal child health programs such as the car seat safety program, safe sleep initiative, and community diaper bank coordination.
Required to use personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement offered.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Fluency in English and Spanish (Mandatory)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of infant and child development, parent‐child attachment, maternal‐infant health, and the dynamics of child abuse and neglect
- Experience working with families and children, with the ability to maintain professional boundaries
- Commitment to completing all required VBDPH training
- A combination of education beyond high school and/or relevant experience totaling at least four years in human services or public health
- Candidates may be required to demonstrate reading, writing, and speaking proficiency in Spanish

- Valid driver's license required by the first day of employment
