Licensed or Licensed eligible Clinician-PHP

The Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center (VBPC) is a 100‑bed freestanding psychiatric hospital located near Virginia Beach, Virginia. VBPC offers acute psychiatric and substance abuse services for adults 18 years and older, is accessible 24 hours a day for admissions, and features mental health assessments, a referral network, and specialty services including substance abuse, dual diagnosis, and partial hospitalization.

• Provide group facilitation coverage and conduct assessments for partial hospitalization program staff.
• Collaborate with the PHP Manager, Doctor, and Nurse to support patient care.

• Licensed or licensed eligible clinician-PHP.
• Serves as an active member of the Clinical Services/Social Work department.
• Maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients.
• Possesses knowledge of basic social work principles for all ages and therapeutic intervention techniques.
• Assists in maintaining a safe, clean therapeutic environment.
• Two or more years’ post‑graduate clinical experience required – preferred in a psychiatric work setting.
• Able to follow written and oral instructions.
• Working knowledge of social theories and practices.
• Social perceptiveness and empathy; ability to build and maintain professional helping relationships.
• Ability to relate and communicate with diverse populations and groups.
• Resilience and ability to assess situations.
• MS degree in social work, psychology or sociology.
