Job Description The Software Test Engineer supports HII's Integrated Training Systems - Software Development (ITS-SD) team in Virginia Beach, VA. In this role, you will contribute to the development, testing, and deployment of the Advanced Training Domain (ATD) - a shipboard combat system trainer used across Navy training programs. You will perform hands-on software testing, integrate hardware and software components, and validate system performance in both lab and shipboard environments.

Impact Your work directly supports Fleet training readiness by ensuring that ITS-SD software products are stable, reliable, and functionally aligned with system requirements. Through rigorous testing and system integration, you help deliver mission-critical training technology that Sailors depend on for mission preparation and operational proficiency. Essential

Job Responsibilities
* Conduct software testing and system verification in ITS-SD laboratory environments and, when required, aboard Navy ships.
* Integrate software builds, network operating systems, and hardware components to support system functionality.
* Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirement review, integration, testing, defect analysis, and maintenance.
* Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test procedures, and system validation documentation.
* Identify defects, document results, and collaborate with developers and systems engineers to resolve issues.
* Assist with installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and integration activities during lab and shipboard events.
* Use tools such as JIRA Software for defect tracking and Subversion (SVN) for version control.
* Support limited travel for shipboard installation, testing, or troubleshooting as required.

Minimum Qualifications Education & Experience
* 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; OR
* 0 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in a related field; OR
* 6 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma/equivalent. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
