This opportunity resides with Global Security (GS). Mission Technologies’ Global Security (GS) group comprises live, virtual, constructive (LVC) solutions; fleet sustainment; nuclear and environmental; and Australia business. The role is a Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) Technical Support Specialist for their Global Security Group. Responsibilities include technical support of Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVCt) training events and the Navy Training Baseline (NTB) suite of distributed simulation applications and utilities.
Location:
Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia. Requires periodic local travel to other customer sites in Virginia Beach and Norfolk, Virginia. The position requires flexibility as duties and responsibilities may be adjusted to meet business, customer, and contractual requirements.
- Install new NTB software releases, upgrades, and patches.
- Provide engineering‑related support for NTB setup and configuration during the planning and execution of training events.
- Use systems‑management software to monitor key simulation components and interfaces to respond to error conditions and ensure continued service.
- Troubleshoot problems and coordinate with other teams when problems occur.
- Develop and maintain technical architecture, configuration, and status documentation.
- 2 years relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or 0 years experience with a master’s degree in a related field, or high school diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
- Current CompTIA Security+ certification.
- Active Secret clearance and ability to obtain it.
- Strong practical knowledge and hands‑on experience with Red Hat Linux operating system.
- Knowledge of distributed simulation protocols such as High Level Architecture (HLA) and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS).
- Familiarity with networking concepts, architectures, and protocols such as TCP/IP and UDP.
- Knowledge of Navy C4I tactical systems such as Link 16 and GCCS.
- Experience working with Navy systems and/or commands.
Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
