The Project Specialist 1 is the first level professional role for project management in the PMO team. This role is responsible for managing the delivery of customer facing Consulting projects of lower to medium dollar value, risk, and complexity, consistent with client requirements and procurement policies/procedures. This role works under general supervision, developing, recommending and implementing approaches to solutions, handling moderately complex assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative.
- Lead and manage projects with 1 to 5 technical consultants
- Handle status reporting – authoring, communications, impact/risk assessments
- Lead management and account meetings with insights on schedule, scope and budget
- Work with Technical Team Leads to ensure objectives in scope and well represented in the plan
- Manage all stakeholders and build strong customer and subcontractor relationships
- Serve as the primary project point of contact for clients
- Coordinate support of urgent and complex issues
- Assure scope and requirements monitored and controlled throughout the project
- Seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen relationships
- Manage day‑to‑day client interaction, identify needs and evaluate alternative solutions
- Present project quality, client and team satisfaction, and success metrics during review meetings with the managing director
- Track and report weekly on percent complete, schedule, burn, earned value, slippage, issues, risks, opportunities and other key indicators
- Maintain accurate issues and risk tracking documents with mitigation plans
- Accurately forecast revenue, profitability, margins, bill rates and utilization
- Track and report team hours and expenses weekly
- Manage project budget and profitability
- Determine appropriate revenue recognition, ensure timely invoicing, and monitor receivables
- Conduct weekly meetings with the Project Accountant
- Collaborate with Sales, Operations Director, and Account Manager to align expectations, deliverables, dependencies, risks and progress
- Secure sign off on deliverables or documentation when appropriate
- Communicate progress, risks, expectations, timelines and milestones to clients and team
- Complete special projects as assigned
- Perform all other duties as assigned
