The Chief Engineer is responsible for all administrative, financial and operating aspects of the hotel as they directly relate to the engineering division. He/she is responsible for the safe and profitable operation of the hotel. This is a hands‑on working, Chief Engineer position for a focused service, newly renovated Residence Inn hotel.

- Complete special projects assigned periodically by the General Manager and Assistant General Manager.
- Complete maintenance work orders from all departments on a timely basis.
- Participate in the preventative maintenance program for all building equipment and rooms.
- Train, supervise, and lead engineers, assist with scheduling, and assist with performance management.
- Minimum 1 year experience as a supervisor in an engineering department, preferentially in the hospitality industry.
- Working knowledge of all electrical supplies and equipment.
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal.
- Working knowledge of:
- health codes
- electrical codes
- national/local fire codes
- local mechanical codes
- blueprints and wiring schematics
- power and hand tools, meters, etc. as it relates to the technical trades
- Good understanding of the English language.
- Good communication skills both written and verbal.
- Compute mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers).
- Ability to interpret manufacturer's literature for installation, preparation, use and upkeep of various materials and products used throughout the property.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Previous hotel experience
- High school graduate or equivalent vocational training.
- Certification or completion of seminars for specialized training.
- Ability to perform basic carpentry skills.
- Exert physical effort in lifting/transporting at least 50 pounds.
- Push/pull carts and other equipment up to 100 pounds.
- Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.
- Reach overhead.
- Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management and co-workers.
