Summary
The Maintenance Assistant supports the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the nursing home by performing routine maintenance, minor repairs, and general upkeep of the facility, equipment, and grounds. This role ensures that the environment is clean, safe, and well-maintained for residents, staff, and visitors.

- Perform routine maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
- Conduct regular inspections of the facility and equipment to identify issues or potential hazards.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders from staff and management.
- Ensure that resident rooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces are kept in good condition.
- Assist with setting up rooms and equipment for events or resident activities.
- Maintain maintenance logs and records as required by regulatory agencies.
- Follow all safety procedures and comply with health and safety standards.
- Support the maintenance of HVAC, fire safety, and emergency systems.
- Assist in snow removal, lawn care, and seasonal maintenance as needed.
- Escort contractors or vendors working on-site and ensure compliance with facility protocols.
- Report any serious maintenance issues or safety concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor immediately.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in maintenance, preferably in a healthcare or senior living environment.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment safely.
- Physically able to lift, move, and carry equipment and supplies (up to 50 lbs).
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Must pass background check and health screenings per facility requirements.
