The Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) is a global division of the U.S. Navy responsible for operating retail and service operations for active‑duty military personnel, their families, and other eligible patrons. NEXCOM manages Navy Exchanges (NEX), which offer a wide range of goods and services such as clothing, electronics, groceries, and household items, often at discounted prices. We also oversee various programs and services, including uniform sales, telecommunications, and travel.

NEXCOM aims to deliver excellent customer service, contribute to the morale and well- being of service members and their families, and generate earnings reinvested into the Navy’s Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) programs, playing a critical role in supporting military families and enhancing overall readiness through MWR services.

DoD Skill Bridge Internships are available to help transitioning active‑duty military personnel gain real‑world experience in the workforce sometime during their final 180 days of active‑duty service. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects, working closely with a mentor and senior company leadership to efficiently manage the flow of merchandise from our vendor’s docks to the back‑rooms of NEX locations worldwide, while striving to improve service levels and drive down transportation and distribution costs.

NEXCOM’s Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full‑time regular and permanent job with NEXCOM.

Service members participating in the VA Skill Bridge program will continue to receive their DOD salary and benefits while engaging in this unpaid internship through the DoD Skill Bridge Program for transitioning active‑duty U.S. military personnel.

Under the direction of the Logistics Directorate plans and directs purchasing inventory control warehousing shipping and distribution operations at a local warehouse to guide the enterprise in achieving corporate business goals and objectives.
