Laundry Attendant

Overview

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for:

• Receiving dirty linen, loading it into washing machines, transferring linen to dryers and removing accordingly.
• Either hand fold all linen or feed it through an ironer and automatic folder where applicable.
• Dry folded linen should be neatly positioned and stacked in a clean laundry cart for removal and subsequent delivery to the client hotel for use.
• Operate the washing and drying machines, avoiding overloading and monitoring for proper detergent mix and machine cycle length.
• Inspect linens coming from dryers for softness, cleanliness and quality.

• Attends daily pre-shift meeting in housekeeping department.
• Empties dirty linen from linen carts into a scale cart, ensuring that the weight is commensurate with the washing machine capacity and detergent mix.
• Loads weighed dirty linen into washing machines, sets controls, unloads, weighs, and loads subsequent dirty linen as per the day s laundry demand.
• Once a load is washed, unloads and transfers to a dryer, ensuring load weight matches dryer capacity and setting controls for the proper drying cycle.
• After drying, linens are removed and hand folded by a team for bed linens or individually for bath towels.
• Fold, stack and load clean linen carts to prevent discoloration and ensure quality.
• Monitor cleanliness and softness; discuss any corrective actions with the Laundry Supervisor.
• Position carts with clean linen outside the folding area and queue them for pickup by the delivery driver, taking care to avoid mixing linens between hotels.
• Maintain a smooth workflow by cycling through loading, unloading and folding in a manufacturing line process.
• Ensure work area and machinery are clean, organized and functional at the end of the shift to support the next shift.
• Report any machine problems to the Laundry Supervisor.

• Good work ethic, attitude and practice.
• Reliability for punctual attendance.
• Ability to speak English preferred.
• No prior experience required.

• Education – Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skill, and ability.
• High school diploma preferred.
• Experience – No previous experience required.
• Prefer previous experience in laundry/valet operation.
