As the Unmanned System (UxV) Mission Management Lead, you will play a key part of our HII Unmanned Systems autonomy portfolio, integrating Odyssey maritime autonomy with tactical mission management systems. You will work with multi‑disciplinary engineering teams to deliver high‑value autonomy solutions. This role can be located in our Pocasset, Mass office or VA Beach.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the Mission Management product lifecycle.
- Collaborate with business development to define market strategy.
- Collaborate with engineering to develop the optimum product for our customers.
- Represent the product externally with customers and at industry events.
- Coordinate the resources to execute the autonomy product plan.
- Set the schedule and release of autonomy product development.
- Execute thought leadership on autonomy product strategy.
- Function as a technical expert, providing management, leadership in the design, development and delivery of technology‑enabled applications, products and services.
- Participate in and provide input into the design, re‑design and development of technology products and applications.
- Lead specification and design phases of the development life cycle.
- Manage the design and implementation of new development and enhancement efforts, coordinate systems installation and software testing.
- Provide technical guidance to clients and department staff at the brand, program and project levels.
- Act as a point of technical escalation and resolution during the project lifecycle.
- Determine and provide necessary technical documentation during requirements gathering.
- Assist the technical director with scoping, identification of project deliverables, and creation of project‑specific documentation.
- Proactively work with producers to ensure appropriate staffing resources are assigned and utilized.
- Work with quality assurance resources to create test plans and resolve issues.
- Communicate daily regarding project status with team members.
- Provide technical consultancy to department staff and participate in business development efforts.
- 8 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 6 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 12 years relevant progressive experience.
- Experience with combat system software.
- Experience with perception stacks, sensor fusion, object detection and tracking.
- Experience with autonomy platforms for unmanned vehicles.
- Eligibility to obtain and hold an active U.S. DoD Security Clearance.
- Advanced degree in Robotics, Software, Computer Science, or Engineering.
- Active U.S. DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.
- Experience in an early‑stage startup.
Job performance may require working in an industrial or shipboard environment. Lifting more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above floor level is not normally required.
